Christening was 28 AUG 1681 Obernhof, Hessen-Nassau, Preussen. I think these are the same individual one is correct wife with no father's name the other is correct father's name with no wife listed. The Obernhof location agress with Listmaster listed above.
Sailed with his wife and apparently some of his wife's relatives (Stahl) was married at sea.

BESSIE MITCHELL NUS
Bessie Nus was born on October 12, 1885, in Clayton Co., Iowa, the daughter of David and Emma Speed Mitchell. She received her education in the rural schools of Clayton County.
On March 25, 1908, she was united in marriage with Richard Nus. Their entire married life was spent in the Arlington community. Three daughters were born to this union: Lata, Mrs. Walter Waskow of Waterloo, Iowa; Fern, Mrs. Joe Barnes of Ankeny, Iowa; and Josephine, Mrs. Alfred Turner of Arlington, Iowa.
On August 20, 1916, she was baptized into the Lutheran faith and on August 27, 1916, she was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington. A membership she maintained until her death. She was a member of the Women of the Church, a charter member of the Study and the Helping Sisters Clubs.
In November of 1948, she had surgery and from this time on she never enjoyed good health.
On March 25th, 1958, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nus had the privilege of celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary. On June 3O, 1959, Mr. Nus passed away.
On July 17, 1966, Mrs. Nus entered the Allen Memorial Convalescent Home at Waterloo, Iowa. And in April of 1967, she moved to the Lutheran Home, Strawberry Point, Iowa, where she passed away on Saturday, June 15, 1968, at the age of
82 years, 8 months and 27 days.

"On December 31st at four o'clock in the morning Mr. Daved Mitchell and Miss Emma Speed started for Elkader, and while going down the hill nearP. Dittmer's they overturned overturned their cutter and were spilled out, but they soon righted their sleigh and continued their journey to Elkader where they were married by Squire Skinner, and returned home the same day."
There farm was later owned by Wayland and Delores Frederick - the original home was torn down.

ALIEN RAYMOND MITCHELL
Allen Raymond Mitchell, eldest child of David and Emma Speed Mitchell, w as born October 15, 1880, on the farm now owned by Clem Moine, between Str awberry Point and Arlington. He attended the rural school near his home, w here he received his elementary education.
He was united in marriage, February 18, 1908, to Matilda Teresa Nus of Arl ington. Two children came to bless this happy union, Florence and Irvi n. On September 10, 1914, his wife died from a paralytic stroke. He was ba ptized and confirmed in the St. John Lutheran Church by Rev. Schiffler, M ay 24, 1936.
On February 16, 1937, he married Minnie Boelter Carnes. He then retired fr om farming and with his wife, operated a restaurant for nearly six year s. After selling the business, in 1943, he took a great interest in his ho me, garden and flowers. He enjoyed working with wood.
About 9:00 0 'clock Friday morning, while doing carpenter work at the Cl ay Keefer farm, he suffered a severe heart attack. He was taken to Mercy H ospital, Oelwein, where everything possible was done for him, but on Wedne sday, Nov. 3, about 10:30 A.M., his earthly life came peacefully to a clos e. He was 74 years old. He was the eldest child of a family of four. His p arents, wife, Matilda, and one brother, Donald, preceded him in death. Sur viving are his wife, Minnie, his daughter, Florence, Mrs. Ray Jellings, a nd son, Irvin, two sisters, Mrs. Richard Nus, and Mrs. Henry Nus, five gra ndchildren, Gary, David, Jon, Rene, and Rita, and many friends and neighbo rs.

who died Tuesday morning at her home, following a long illness. The Rev. Robert Smith will officiate at the 1:30 P.M. services at the Methodist Church and burial will be in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Leta V. Nus was born October 2, 1886, in Clayton County, the daughter of David and Emma Speed Mitchell. On December 28, 1940, she was married to Henry
A. Nus at West Union.
A member of the Methodist Church_ she was affiliated with the W.S.C.S. and the Royal Neighbors.
